New code of practice for the Mental Health Act has been issued today
A new code of practice for the Mental Health Act has been issued, marking the first revision to the code since 2008 due to l come into effect from 1st April 2015. Significant amendments to the code include a new chapter on the interface between the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act and updated chapters on the use of restraint and seclusion rooms.
There is a chapter which provides guidance on the role of those with parental responsibility for a child or young person; confidentiality and sharing information; how children and young people should be safeguarded where admission to hospital is not appropriate and on decisions related to admission and treatment.
