Oldham baby death - police have more time to interview suspects
Police have been given more time to question three people arrested on suspicion of murdering a seven-week-old boy in Greater Manchester. The baby, named as Thomas Gacek, was taken from Hillside Avenue, in Oldham to hospital on 26 January with severe head injuries and died a day later at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.
A woman, 23, understood to be his mother, her boyfriend, 35, and a second man, 26, remain in police custody. All three are being held on suspicion of murder and conspiring to pervert the course of justice. It is understood the second man is a lodger at the property.
A post-mortem examination revealed the boy died from head injuries.
